Book Reviews

  • superficial and incomplete

The summary of the book is adequate; however, there is really no critique, no questioning of the many parts of Vianne's story that are omitted. There is little discussion of the style of Kristin Hannah's writing. I had hoped to gain additional insight into the book by reading this review. This was not the case. If you read the book, this "review" is a waste of time.

This book does well to capitalize on the importance of setting and theme in the novel. Plus, the character analysis is awesome. I wish it had a bit more focusing on historical context, but this book is still top notch.

Reading the book, I knew that there were a lot of historical points, but after reading the analysis, it gave me lots more links to real life history events that happened.

I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking to understand The Nightingale at a deeper level. The author analyzes the two sisters in the book through various details and explanations and does a good job of summarizing the plot.

The sheer amount of suspense I felt while reading this was enough by itself to be worth it to me, but the ending was just extra icing on the cake for me to seal it. I'm thinking of checking out the original to see the full version.
